The release of “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” may have been banned in Pakistan, but that hasn’t stopped fans from watching the film on its release date, March 19. According to a viral tweet, a pirated version Aditya Dhar the director has made his way online in Pakistan, streaming the film with enthusiastic audiences. The development came to light after Pakistani journalist Khalid Mehmood Khalid shared a post on social media saying he was watching the film in Lahore. Posting a clip of his screen, he wrote, “Watching Dhurandhar 2 in Lahore.”

The clip, which has been viewed more than 250K times in the last few hours since it was posted, also features a clip from the movie and a watermark in the top left corner.

Responding to the clip, one wrote, “Unfortunately the pirated version of Dhurandhar – The Revenge has arrived in Pakistan today itself. Below, a Pakistani Journalist confirms the same and enjoys the movie on his home screen. The circulation of the film is remarkable in Pakistan, since the official release of both – ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ – were banned in the country. However, industry observers note that these restrictions have often fueled curiosity and demand, helping the spread of piracy.This isn’t the first time the franchise has received notable unauthorized viewers in the region. Reports indicate that the previous installment became one of the biggest pirated films in Pakistan, registering two million illegal downloads in just two weeks of its release.After its digital release, ‘Dhurandhar’ reportedly climbed to the top spot on Netflix Pakistan.
Madras High Court helps curb piracy
Meanwhile, in India, the Madras High Court stepped in to help curb piracy of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. The court granted an interim injunction against unauthorized reproduction and broadcast of the film. The court restrained internet service providers and cable TV operators from illegally streaming or telecasting the film till April 15, the Bar and Bench reported.
