the sequence of Aditya DharThe hit franchise Dhurandhar: The Revenge finally hit the theaters on March 19 and has been creating a lot of buzz ever since. The title Ranveer Singhthe film has not only thrilled audiences, but has sparked curiosity about its extensive casting process. In a recent interview, casting director Mukesh Chhabra shared his insight into how the film came together, including the fact that several actors turned down the role of the now popular Rehmaan Dakait, who he eventually portrayed. Akshaye Khanna.Mukesh remembered being very affected when he heard the script for the first time. In an interview to Bollywood Hungama, she said, “They told me the story for four hours. After that, I was in shock. I didn’t move or take a break. We didn’t even notice when the time had passed. I was scared at first, after casting for so many films in the past. I had to find so many characters, newer faces, it was a big film.”He described the massive scale of the casting effort, revealing that nearly 400 roles needed to be filled across the two parts of the film. “If I combine the two parts, I had to cast around 400 people. I formed a team of six people and started the search. Aditya gave me complete freedom and asked me to think as much as I can. He wanted to surprise people. He already thought that this film would break all the records and all the roles would get a lot of love.“Mukesh also shared that Ranveer Singh was always the first and surest choice for Hamza’s lead role. “During the process, many people said no to different roles, but Aditya was calm and asked me to find other actors. It took us almost two years to research and cast. We started in early 2024. We always knew that it would be Ranveer Singh as Hamza. He agreed immediately because he was waiting for the right film.“When asked about lining up the antagonist, Mukesh revealed that some actors had turned down the role before Akshaye Khanna was roped in. “I can’t name names, but 2-3 actors said no to him for his role. I’m sure they’re regretting that decision today. One southern actor and two from Bollywood gave a very strange logic. They said this is a group of actors and it’s really Ranveer’s film, but Aditya is quick to move on from negative thoughts.“She also opened up about casting Sara Arjun as Yalina Jamali, a role that has garnered a lot of interest from actresses across the industry. “Aditya and I were approaching the role. I told her that we would need someone with no old baggage, so a completely fresh face would work better. Everyone should believe that this is only Yalina. I wanted to give the character and keep it unpredictable. We did more than 1000 auditions for her role,” she concluded.Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already crossed ₹1500 crore at the worldwide box office. Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh BediDanish Pandor and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles.
