Aditya Dhar‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is not only ruling the box office but also the talk of the internet ever since it hit theaters on March 19. In just one week, the film broke many records at the box office and has continued its great run. However, a day before its release, it faced an unexpected hurdle when its paid reviews were canceled due to “technical issues”. That brought a lot of people the actor The Danish Pandora who plays Uzair Baloch in the film, spoke about an emotional moment at the film’s premiere. He recalled walking into an almost empty theater with an occupancy of 40-50 people amid what he described as widespread “negative publicity.”Reflecting on that phase, Danish said in an ABP live interview, “It’s all about the audience. I remember the movie was released on Friday after the show was canceled on Thursday. I was completely heartbroken. I couldn’t understand what was going on. I kept thinking, ‘It’s such a great movie, why is this happening?’ And besides that, there was too much negative publicity around.’He also shared, “When the film finally opened on Friday, I went to the 2:30 pm show. There were barely 40-50 people in the theater. I kept wondering, how come we’ve made such a nice film and there’s no audience. After 8:00 pm, the reviews started pouring in. Suddenly, people on social media weren’t looking as well, and they weren’t talking about it. The reality is, no matter how much negativity surrounds a film, when the audience decides to show their love, no one can stop them.Despite a bumpy start, the film still opened to huge numbers at the box office. On its first day, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” collected Rs 145 crore (including paid previews), marking the biggest ever opening for a Bollywood debut. It maintained its momentum with two days of Rs 100 crore and ended its first week with Rs 643 crore at the domestic box office. Meanwhile, talking about the canceled shows, Gaiety-Galaxy owner Manoj Desai slammed the makers of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Jio Studios, for giving KDM late. For those who don’t know, KDM is Key Delivery Message. This is a small encrypted XML file that contains the security key needed to unlock and play the encrypted Digital Cinema Package (DCP). KDMs restrict movies to specific, authorized movie servers and, most importantly, to a specific time window, acting as an anti-piracy Digital Rights Management (DRM) tool. Therefore, the theaters are not allowed to play the movie until the managers get the KDM.Desai told ETimes, “They were running late and they don’t answer to anyone. They have made so much money with ‘Dhurandhar’ and yet they didn’t care about so many canceled shows. They canceled 2 shows at Gaeity and two shows at Galaxy and two shows at Maratha Mandir. So total 6 shows were canceled my wish in India. 500 theaters mein KDM nahi gaya aur show cancel huh.”
