Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has opened to packed theaters and powerful pangs. While many viewers have praised the film’s scale, performances and story, a section of viewers feel that it doesn’t live up to the first part. Amid the rumours, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has once again stirred controversy, this time targeting Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge and its director. Aditya Dhar.Taking to X, Rathee wrote, “3 months ago I called Aditya Dhar a BJP propagandist. Now everyone will see. He was subtle in the previous film, but this time he went very clear with great confidence. Remember how I said, well-done propaganda is more dangerous? Ab toh well-done bhi nahi raha.” Lol.”His remarks quickly drew backlash online, with social media divided between those who supported his criticism and others who dismissed it.
It’s not his first criticism of the franchise
This is not the first time that Dhruv Rathee is eyeing the franchise. When Dhurandhar released it earlier, he shared a detailed video, arguing that it is “more dangerous propaganda done well”, citing the film’s use of real-life references and events.He also criticized the trailer at the time, calling out its violent imagery and saying it glorified gore.
Historic opening at the box office
Despite mixed word of mouth, the film directed by Ranveer Singh has had a historic start. According to Sacnilk, he collected Rs. 96.78 crore nett on the first day from 27,574 shows.Including Rs. 43 crore from the paid previews, the film’s total domestic gross stands at Rs. 139.78 crore, gross collections of Rs. 167.74 crore in 24 hours. With this, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has surpassed the opening figures of major blockbusters like Jawan, Pathaan and Animal, registering the biggest opening for a Bollywood film so far.
