In an interview with People , Montgomery shared that what he related to his killer mask and red contacts was his experience with OCD. “The thing that was definitely relatable to me about Arthur was, frankly, just the OCD,” she says. “That’s definitely my thing. That’s what I live with and manage.”On crafting what she found relatable about the villain, the ‘Stranger Things’ alum says, “There was a lot of that kind of grit and attention to detail that I put into every character I play, but it’s very methodical.”“From what you see in the movie, he’s halfway through his plan and he’s put a lot of thought into it,” Montgomery continues of Arthur. “And I think I definitely couldn’t relate to working on a murderous plot in my life, but definitely with the attention to detail alone, I felt like I connected with, yes, the giant.”

According to the filmmaker, Arthur would have looked very different if another actor had played him. “I met with a few people for this movie,” Goldhaber told the outlet. “As soon as I met Dacre, I felt like it had to be him, everyone else… they approached this character they were talking about as someone else, like this guy they saw in the media.
