ETimes verdict
Our exclusive ETimes review reads: “Visually, the film has no character of its own, a flat, unrecognizable look that blends into every other comedy drama in the same budget range.”The review also noted that “GV Prakash’s score sounds like it was culled from his back catalogue. The material is watered down too much, cover version versions of gags and situations that have been around for ages, with barely a hint of flavor at the end.”At the same time, he appreciates certain aspects, saying, “To his credit, Ken Karunas has designed some laugh-out-loud comedy sets, and the guys around Praveen share a chemistry that keeps their scenes from feeling completely disposable.” He further adds, “Suraj Venjaramoodu gets some of his dry comic moments.”The review ends on a balanced note: “Given how easy it is for this territory to fall into an invisible cliché, Youth stays on the right side of that line for most of its run.”Overall, ‘Youth’ is holding firm at the box office and the weekend performance will be decisive.NOTE: The box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from various public and industry sources.
