India’s passenger vehicle market closed the fiscal year on a strong note, with most automakers reporting healthy year-on-year growth in March 2026. Better demand, stronger SUV portfolios and growing interest in electric vehicles helped boost volumes for all brands. Here’s a quick look at how automakers fared.At the top end of the chart, Maruti Suzuki India topped the market with total sales of 2,25,251 units in March 2026, an increase of 16.72% compared to 1,92,984 units sold in March 2025. Domestic passenger vehicle sales increased by 1,66,219 units to 1,66,219 units. 1,50,743 units in the same month last month. The yearTata Motors reported strong growth in domestic passenger vehicle sales, which rose to 66,192 units in March 2026 from 51,616 units a year ago, a growth of 28%. International PV sales rose to 779 units from 256 units last year. The company’s EV segment also saw a significant correction, with sales rising 77% to 9,494 units as against 5,353 units in March 2025. The brand also chalked up a record-breaking fourth quarter, crossing 2,00,000 units in the quarter and increasing sales of the model by nearly 3×7 percent. PunchHyundai Motor India reported total sales of 69,004 units, up 2.5 percent year-on-year. Domestic sales reached 55,064 units, the company’s highest ever March domestic performance, reflecting a growth of 6.3 percent, while exports stood at 13,940 units.Mahindra & Mahindra posted strong numbers in the SUV segment, with domestic sales reaching 60,272 units in March, up 25 percent year-on-year. Total UV sales including exports stood at 62,109 units.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor also recorded steady growth, reporting total sales of 37,194 units in March 2026, compared to 30,043 units in March 2025, a growth of 24 percent. Domestic sales increased from 28,373 units to 35,125 units, while exports increased from 1,670 units to 2,069 units, both showing a growth of 24 percent.Kia India achieved its highest monthly sales ever, shipping 29,112 units in March 2026, up 14.5 percent from 25,525 units a year ago. The company also reported its best ever quarterly performance, with sales up 11.6 percent to 84,316 units in the January-March period. The growth was largely driven by the continued demand for Seltos, which has been exceeding 10,000 units per month.JSW MG Motor India posted a 19% year-on-year growth, with sales reaching 6,528 units in March 2026, indicating steady demand across both its ICE and new energy vehicle portfolios.Skoda Auto India recorded sales of 7,928 units in March 2026, showing a slight increase from 7,422 units in March 2025.Among the fastest-growing brands, Renault India reported a sharp 77% growth in domestic wholesale sales, with volumes rising to 5,046 units in March 2026 from 2,846 units a year ago. For the full fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company recorded total sales of 42,018 units, up 11 percent from 37,900 units in FY25.
