Ass Aditya DharDhurandhar: The Revenge continues its strong run, Bimal Oberoi talks about his experience. Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna and director Aditya Dhar also shed light on the emotional Hamza-Shirani dynamic that struck a chord with the audience.
“Ranveer is always in character…becomes a caretaker”
Recalling his first day with Ranveer Singh, Bimal’s approach helped shape the emotionally charged scene.“Ranveer is always in character on stage. He becomes like a caretaker, making sure everything is in place and everyone is comfortable,” he told Filmygyan. He added: “He took me aside and we started talking about how war affects children. He’s very emotional about things like that. That conversation is reflected in the scene.”
“Hamza and Shirani are bound by a common goal”
Opening up about the dynamic between Hamza and Shirani, Bimal explained that their connection is based on shared pain and purpose.“Both are motivated by revenge. They have a common goal and they are gradually moving towards it,” he said.He added that when Hamza speaks, Shirani connects immediately. “He feels that this is something that can help him achieve his mission. That’s where his ‘cold’ and controlled attack comes from.”
“After the death of Major Iqbal, it was a triumphant but emotional moment”
Bimal also spoke about the touching scene after Hamza kills Major Iqbal and returns, calling it one of the most emotional moments in the film.“It was like he did, for you, for everyone, for the Baluchis. He took that responsibility on himself,” he said.Describing the moment, he added, “There’s a feeling of victory, but it’s also emotional. It’s like when Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh hugged after winning the World Cup, that kind of emotion.”
“When Akshaye Khanna comes in, you feel that aura”
Talking about Akshaye Khanna’s presence, Bimal highlighted the actor’s preparation and intensity.“He’s a great actor and he comes very prepared. He’s constantly thinking,” he said.“When he gets out of the car, or even when Ranveer gets in, you feel that aura. They are fantastic actors; they do half the work themselves.”
“Aditya Dhar sets the tone…that helps the actors”
Bimal credits director Aditya Dhar for shaping the film’s mood and performances.“That ‘nice’ and controlled attack you see is the manager’s vision. Another director could have done it very differently, maybe louder,” he said.Calling Dhar “calm and composed,” he added, “He knows exactly what he wants. Once he sets the tone, it really helps the actors.”Elaborating on the director’s working style, Bimal said, “He is a very cool and calm director. Once he decides what he wants and discusses it with his team, he makes sure he gets the best out of everyone.” While Bimal praised his actors, he also acknowledged the greater effort behind the film.“The actors get the credit, but behind it is the writing, the direction, the cinematography, the costumes – everything comes together,” he said.
