Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released Bihar Police Sub Inspector (SI) Preliminary Exam Result 2026. Candidates appearing for the Daruga recruitment exam can now check and download the merit list from the official website of the commission — bpssc.bihar.gov.in.The result has been published in PDF format, listing the roll numbers of the shortlisted candidates for the next stage of the recruitment process – the Central Written Competitive Examination. Home Department (Police Branch), Government of Bihar is conducting a recruitment drive to fill 1,799 vacancies for the posts of Sub Inspector of Police.
More than 7.26 lakh candidates appeared in Bihar Police SI Prelims Exam.
According to the commission, the recruitment process is being conducted under advertisement number 05/2025, which was issued on 23 September 2025 for direct recruitment to 1,799 SI posts.A total of 10,36,702 candidates had registered for the preliminary examination. Out of them 7,26,231 candidates appeared in the examination held in two shifts on 18 January and 21 January 2026.However, 29,272 candidates were disqualified due to various procedural errors and misconduct during the examination process. The reasons cited by the Commission include:
- misconduct: 14 candidates
- Wrong roll number on OMR answer sheet: 14,591 candidates
- Wrong Question Booklet No on OMR: 9,992 candidates
- Failure to sign OMR sheet: 529 candidates
- Hindi paragraph not written: 1,139 candidates
- English paragraph not written: 2,851 candidates
- Both Hindi and English paragraphs are not written: 156 candidates
After excluding these candidates, the answer sheets of 6,96,959 candidates were scrutinized.
Candidates were shortlisted for Mains Exam.
As per the recruitment rules, the commission has shortlisted candidates up to 20 times the number of vacancies in each reservation category based on their performance in the preliminary examination.These shortlisted candidates will now be eligible to appear in the Bihar Police SI Central Written Competitive Examination, which will be the next stage of the selection process.More details regarding the mains exam schedule and admit card are expected to be released soon on the BPSSC website.
