New Delhi: Pakistan cricket and controversies seem to go hand in hand. Now, a new row has erupted – this time over alleged ball-tampering by Pakistani cricketers Pakistan Super League (PSL). This incident happened during the PSL match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings in which Lahore Qalandars with Fakhr Zaman Finding yourself at the center of controversy.The matter came to light when Lahore Qalandars fast bowler Haris Rauf was about to bowl the last over, with Karachi Kings needing 14 runs to win.Rauf was preparing to bowl when captain Shaheen Afridi and Fakhar joined him for a brief chat to plan the final over.What raised eyebrows was that Fakher was caught on camera changing the ball.The on-field umpire Faisal Afridi then called the ball, inspected it and had a lengthy discussion with fellow Bangladesh umpire Sharaf ud Daulah.Look:After deliberation, the umpires concluded that the ball had been changed deliberately and Karachi were awarded five penalty runs, reducing the target to nine runs off the last six balls.The ball was also changed.Karachi batsman Khushdil Shah was dismissed on the first ball of the last over, but Rauf followed with a wide. Abbas Afridi then hit a four and a six to give Karachi a four-wicket win in 19.3 overs.“Fakhir denied the allegations leveled against him during a disciplinary hearing chaired by match referee Roshan Mahanama,” the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement. “A further hearing is scheduled to take place within the next 48 hours after which the match referee will deliver his decision.” If found guilty, the minimum penalty for a level 3 offense is a one-match ban.
