Veteran actor Anupam Kherwho recently directed Tanvi: The Great, spoke about the massive success of Dhurandhar and shared his thoughts on what made the film resonate so much with audiences.In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the impact of the film, his performances and the director’s vision Aditya Dharsaying that it is one of the best movies of recent times.
“Aditya Dhar was telling a story he fully believed in”
Praising the filmmaker’s conviction, Anupam Kher said Dhurandhar’s success stems from his honesty and clear vision.“He (Aditya Dhar) was trying to tell a story that he totally believed in. Aditya Dhar has done an amazing job. It’s one of the best films, not because of the gore or violence shown differently, but because of the courage of an Indian agent going into enemy territory and the truth of the whole journey,” he told Pinkvilla.
‘Ranveer Singh made the film believable’
Kher also praised the cast’s contribution, but credited Ranveer Singh for anchoring the film with his performance.“Bahut saara shrey of course Akshaye ko bhi jaata hai, R. Madhavan ko bhi jaata hai, jitne bhi logon ne usme kaam kiya… Rakesh Bedi, Arjun Rampal, that young girl Sara Arjun… but I think a lot of credit goes to Ranveer Singh,” he said for not breaking the mold behind a man.Elaborating further, Kher added, “His performance was what made the film real. He is a superstar, kahin wo flinch karke overreact kar sakta tha, but he remained cool and calm, which made the other characters look great.”
“It was Aditya Dhar’s conviction”
Summarizing his thoughts, the actor reiterated that while every element of the film worked, it was ultimately the director’s belief that shaped its success.“Of course, the songs were there, all the stuff was wonderful, but it was Aditya Dhar’s conviction that made the film,” he said.

For those who don’t know, Dhurandhar raked in around ₹788 crore at the Indian box office, making it one of the highest grossing Bollywood films in the domestic market.Its sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, is currently playing in theatres, carrying forward the great legacy of the franchise.
