The report comes after popular scooper ‘MyTimeToShineHello’ posted a tweet on X. “After turning down a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Anne Hathaway is in talks for a MAJOR role in the next MCU saga,” the tweet stated. Although the studio has not confirmed the casting, rumors place Hathaway in a major role in the franchise’s X-Men-focused future.

According to a YouTube video posted by industry expert Jeff Sneider, the casting discussion for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ involved Anne Hathaway and Sarah Snook as villains in the film’s development process. The filmmakers considered the two actresses for the role of a female antagonist, but in the end they did not join the project. “Those were like legit rumors, and basically I heard that Anne Hathaway died, and … Sarah Snook passed on (the role).”Jeff Sneider also revealed that the original concept for ‘Spider-Man 4’ involved an “older female villain,” which was circulated as a rumor before casting decisions were finalized.
