Alia Bhatt and Indian yogi-author Sadhguru recently took part in a wonderful chat about fear of failure, motherhood and daily sleep routines. When Alia said that she sleeps 9 hours a day, Sadhguru suggested that she should cut her sleep to get more life.
Sadhguru and Alia Bhatt in the sleep debate
In a discussion on Sadhguru’s YouTube channel, the yogi shared that post-accident, he sleeps only 4-5 hours every night, “I used to sleep and now I sleep for four and a half, five hours, it depends on the day. That’s it? What do you mean that’s it? That’s the fourth of the day.” Shocked, Alia opened up about her routine: “I sleep for 9 or 8 hours.” Sadhguru replied, “When will you live?” He replied, “All we’re told is sleep, rest, that’s when your body repairs itself. That’s what they tell us.” But he challenged her further: “Why did you damage your body in the first place? People ask me, ‘What do you do to relax?’ I say, “I don’t fan myself.” Why do you wind and why do you go to disconnect?”.Alia agreed, “Oh my God, that’s true. Why are we so wounded? But, we’re always wounded. You get to the end of the day and you’re tired, you want to sleep. And even after 8 hours of sleep, I want to sleep, but then I have to wake up. I love to sleep.” Sadhguru immediately replied, “No one loves to sleep, because when you are really asleep you don’t exist, so why love? You don’t love your existence. You’ll love the peace of mind it gives you.’
About Sadhguru Alia Bhatt’s daughter
As he did not know Alia’s daughter’s name Raha, Sadhguru asked him about her “3½ year old child’s name”. “He is happier, he must be a lifelong advisor. What do you have to teach? You must listen, see and see how a child is. A child is closer to life than you are. You must learn to live life, because it is your life,” he concluded.
