Oscar-winning director Daniel Kwan He received high praise for his directorial work on the hit film ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. Ever since the film was released, fans have been asking when Kwan will be back with a new film. Here’s what the director had to say about his next project and why he needed a follow-up after the success of ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’.
Daniel Kwan talks about his next big project
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the director explained the reasons why his next work was delayed so much. He explained: “So one of the reasons it’s taking so long is because what we’re feeling and what we’re hearing from the world is very complex and really nuanced, and there’s a lot of paradox.”This project will be another eccentric work, according to the director. He stated, “The only thing you need to know is that we’re trying to do what we’ve always done, which is to listen really deeply to what’s going on in the world and try to absorb that and make something like this really fun and funny that reflects that story back into the world.”However, Kwan also provided a definitive timeline, revealing that the project is set for next year if all goes according to plan. “We’re about to shoot this summer, and it’ll be out, if all goes to plan, next November 2027,” he shared.
Daniel Kwan teases the genre upcoming movie
Without giving away too many details about the upcoming project, the filmmaker revealed: “It’s going to be a fun sci-fi, an action comedy with a lot of heart. Very existential. All those things you’d expect one of our films to be. But as the world gets more complex, I think one of my jobs as a storyteller is to meet the world where it’s at.”Apart from ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, Kwan has also worked on projects like ‘Swiss Army Man’, ‘Interesting Ball’ and ‘Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia’.
