What can we expect from your character in the future?It’s not confirmed yet, but the director connected the scene in the right way. The location of the scene is beautiful. So we don’t know if he wants to move on to something else. But, you know, this is not discussed internally with the team. Only the head Aditya Dhar lord knows what’s next for this one.
How life has changed after successDhurandhar‘?It’s still sinking in. You know, sometimes you do things and you’re fine. But when you work in a film like ‘Dhurandhar’ and it becomes noticeable, it feels like everyone was watching. So the elders who never remembered or called, now their calls come. And from friends, you know, that’s how it is. But that’s okay, it’s the love of the people that leads the way. So it’s a very nice feeling. But the most important, the best thing is to regain your self-respect. You regain your confidence after doing a film like this.As an actor, you always want and try to do a good job so that people can see and appreciate your work. So I think that’s a good thing. It has been a beautiful journey with ‘Dhurandhar’.At first, your character feels small, but as the film progresses, the audience realizes his importance. What was your reaction when you heard about the role?At first our character was told, but we never got the full script. So we didn’t know how important that role was or not. But yes, I knew there is a journey with Omar, and before we go to the end, Omar will reverse the events. But the beautiful direction shown in the second half. At first, Omar might not even notice. He is just like any other standing officer Sanjay Dutt sir But with those little scenes, the construction he’s done, the arc he’s set up, I think it’s very beautiful.And the audience probably only realizes in the second half of the second half that this is also a character who wants to do something. It was amazing. Mr. Sanjay and I had a very nice relationship, and I will always cherish that. Although I only had a few scenes with him in the beginning, we hit it off really well.I became so attached to him that it was very difficult for me to say goodbye on the last day. In fact, even when I was taking off my uniform on the last day, it was very emotional for me. Although I was eager to finish the project and move on to the next as an actor, it really wasn’t easy to say goodbye to this character.The audience is reacting strongly to your character, and they even blame you for interrupting the story. How has that feedback been?So I get messages from a lot of people in the digital world. They say, “Why did you come? I mean, it was a good story. Hamza was with Yelina, and they were family. Everything was ruined because of you.’ The character is very well written. And as I said, that’s where their beauty comes from, because they gave little importance to each character. So I think their writing style is very beautiful. The end credit scene has gone viral. How does it feel to see yourself trending on social media?It’s an amazing feeling. It feels so good. First of all, I like the work, and that scene in itself is very important. Every single person is tagging me in the scene, like, “Look, you’re on my feed again.” The same people are saying, earlier we used to say we will meet you but now we see you everyday on our phones. So it’s a very good feeling. But yes, it’s an effort after this, what’s next? You will have to think ten times before doing something next. Because films like ‘Dhurandhar’ do not come again and again. Everyone says that whatever you do next, you should do it better. Because people will relate, like, “Oh, it’s Omar. He did ‘Dhurandhar’.” What will be your parameter when choosing the next projects?I’m reading things, I’m meeting people. I’m trying to meet some of the best people in the industry. I’m in no rush to rush something. But whatever I receive, my effort will be to make the audience understand and like the work. Because sometimes, as an actor, when you are choosing your subject, you have to spend a lot of time with it, like I did with ‘Dhurandhar’. He traveled with him for a year and a half to two years. So it’s important that everything you receive is good, important, and not just for money, but also something that makes you look different or make you a different character. You also mentioned receiving negative comments. Any memorable audience reactions?There are many instances where people have said, “Tu bahar nikal, tujhe dekhta hoon main”. I also received threatening calls, quite disturbing. I had to explain to them that I’m not from Pakistan and it’s just a role I’m playing. But I understand that this also reflects the love of the audience and how well people have accepted the film. Look at my Instagram handle, you see a lot of negative comments hating my character.Has your perception changed after working with Ranveer Singh?I had a perception of Ranveer Singh as an actor full of energy and that is true. But here for “Dhurandhar” he was a completely different person. Focused and dedicated. And I think when you look at a person like him, you learn a lot. It makes you feel so important. He treats you so well that he never lets you feel like he’s a “man” or something. So I think that makes the atmosphere very good. Looking at his dedication, his scenes, his looks, his work, his method, his acting process, I think he has really given 2-2.5 years of his life to this character alone, to make Hamza possible.Any set memories you’ll always cherish?I will just remember a memory of Mr. Aditya reposting something that was my story on Instagram. And he wrote me a very nice message where he said, “Thank you for being my Omar, and I have found a great Omar in you.” I think I will live with that forever. When a director himself says something like that, you get a lot of motivation to go on set every day and work well. So I think that’s a beautiful memory. Relax, all the memories are very nice. Working with all the actors is great. But I am taking a lot Aditya sir, to be honest.
