According to the latest information reported by Page Six, Lively’s legal team may decide to show a video from 2017 where Baldoni Spears shares a story about meeting her on the set of ‘Jane the Virgin’. In the clip, Baldoni admits that he walked up to Spears, gave her a big hug with excitement, and immediately worried that she had crossed a line.The conversation went like this.“I went up to him and in my mind, we’re friends,” he said with a laugh. “We weren’t.”“And I went up and gave her… I said, ‘Hey!’, and I gave her a big hug and I think I scared her, ‘Hi,’ and I had this awkward moment, like, ‘Did I harass Britney Spears?'” she joked in the interview, clearly a little embarrassed.For the uninitiated, Baldoni played Rafael Solano on the CW’s ‘Jane the Virgin’ which ran for five seasons from 2014-2019, and Spears appeared in an episode of the show’s Season 2, playing an exaggerated version of herself.Now, Baldoni initially told this story with humor and self-awareness. But Lively’s lawyers think it can help paint a picture. They want to argue that Baldoni condones past behavior that is, at the very least, inappropriate. If successful, this could confirm how Lively performed on the set of ‘It Ends With Us’.The Daily Mail reports that Lively will try to convince the jury that Baldoni’s hug with Spears shows a pattern, from how he treated Spears to how she treated him. Lively’s big allegation is that she sexually harassed Baldoni while filming 2024, but a judge already dismissed that part of her lawsuit earlier this month.
‘It Ends With Us’ Legal Battles: How Did It Begin?
For those unfamiliar, the ‘It Ends With Us’ legal battle began in 2024 when Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, her co-star and director of the film.In 2024, Lively sued Baldoni, claiming he sexually harassed her, entered her trailer while she was dressing, pushed her into unscripted intimate scenes, and touched her in a way she didn’t want. He says that when he spoke out, he was punished for it, with press pieces and a campaign against him.Baldoni has denied everything, saying there was no bullying, just creative disagreements and maybe some misunderstandings that were resolved.In April 2026, federal judge Lewis Liman dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims, including all allegations of sexual harassment, leaving only three claims to go to trial. Lively’s case now has three issues: breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting retaliation. So at this point, the case is less about what happened on set with Lively and Baldoni, and more about what Lively says happened after she raised her grievances, particularly whether Baldoni or her team tried to damage her reputation or career.After the April 2026 trial, the New York trial is set for May 18, 2026.
