Captain by Babur AzamPeshawar Zalmi on Monday defeated Multan Sultans by 24 runs to register their fifth win in six matches in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 season. Zalmi tops the points table with 5 wins and 1 draw from 6 matches and 11 points.Kosal Mendes Continued his run in the tournament and helped Zalmi to a 24-run victory over Multan Sultans.Zalmi got off to a flying start with openers Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam adding 48 runs.Babar, however, could not find rhythm and was dismissed for 18 runs off 20 balls. Babar Azam’s slow strike rate in T20Is has been the talk of the town in recent times and earlier Steve Smith’s refusal to single him in the Big Bash League (BBL) was the talk of the cricket circles. After the match, Babar answered questions about his strike rate.“You have to play differently at different numbers. At that point, what kind of guard you have to play, you also have to look at the scoreboard, and the strike rate also creates quite a stir. I believe you have to assess the conditions first,” Azam said after the match. The Peshawar Zalmi batsman said that you have to realize that every day the wicket is not the same. You can’t play the same way every day.Other batsmen scored runs at a similar rate. Mohammad Haris scored 38 off 17 balls and Kosal Mendis scored 68 off 40 balls.“You have to face challenges, the opposition team also comes with their homework, you can’t hit the shots you want freely (you can’t pick me up shots). On a good day things will click, otherwise you have to work (hard) for it,” he added.Peshawar Zalmi scored 196 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Multan Sultans scored 172 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 24 runs, which was their second defeat in the tournament.
