Film maker Ram Gopal Varma he paid heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer Asha Bhoslecommemorating his iconic contribution to his films and his unique artistry.

Taking to social media, he wrote, “Today I am deeply reflecting on the passing away of my favorite singer, the legendary Asha Bhosle ji. In Rangeela, Rahman is obviously the one who composed the music, but it was Asha ji’s voice that gave it an immortal soul and raw, youthful fire. ‘Rangeela Re’ was not just a song, it was a thunderbolt that shook Bollywood”.He added, “Urmila Matondkar’s electrifying moves on the raw, pulsating streets of Mumbai fused seamlessly with Asha ji’s playful sensuality, mischievous energy and unimaginable vocal range, creating pure cinematic magic that redefined the rebellious spirit of film music.”Recalling his experience in the studio, Varma said, “I remember her walking into the studio with the poise of a queen, but carrying a wide-eyed child like the curiosity of a newcomer hungry to experiment with a New Age music director like Rahman. One take, one small tweak in phrasing or emotion, and the magic poured out like a huge storm.”He further stated, “Coincidentally, today marks the 24th anniversary of my song ‘Khallas’ from my film. That ultra seductive high-octane number, along with Asha ji’s lead vocals, with its bouncy beat, became a great item that pulsates with yet undefined energy.”Summing up her legacy, he wrote, “Asha ji was not just a singer, she was the heartbeat of an entire era, her voice flowing like a river across generations, bridging classical roots with modern beats across multiple languages and emotions. From sensuality to the depths of the soul, he captured the entire spectrum of human feeling like no one else before. Rest in power Asha ji. You may have moved on, but your music will stay here forever.“
Urmila Matondkar : ‘I’m not his fan, I’m his bhakt’
Urmila Matondkar, who featured in some of Asha Bhosle’s most iconic songs like Rangeela Re and Kambakht Ishq, also expressed her grief.“Heartbroken beyond words. She always told him that I am not his fan but his Ultimate Bhakt.. My Goddess,” he wrote, sharing a series of photos with the late singer.Urmila was one of the first to arrive at Asha Bhosle’s residence to pay her last respects. Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and actress Shabana Azmi were also seen visiting his residence, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Asha Bhosle’s son Anand Bhosle shared details about the last rites, asking fans to avoid overcrowding.“Tomorrow, from 10:30 am to 2 pm, people can come for my mother’s last darshan at the Casa Grande building. At 4 pm, her last rites will be performed at the crematorium. I request people not to gather there as there are chances of overcrowding.” Asha Bhosle, known for her incredible versatility and blockbuster hits like Dil Cheez Kya Hai, Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Mera Kuchh Saaman and Chura Liya Hai Tumne, passed away at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
