Tristan Stubbs And the refusal of a request for a glove change sparked a heated exchange with the match officials.The incident came during the closing stages of Delhi’s chase, when Stubbs requested to change his gloves in the 19th over. The batsman looked restless, struggling with sweat-soaked gloves affecting his grip. However, the fourth umpire turned down the request, much to the dismay of the Delhi camp.Nitish Rana Stepped up to question the decision, had a long argument with the umpire. Rana argued that playing with wet gloves could affect both performance and safety, especially in high-pressure moments of the game, a situation that heightened the tension already in the final overs, with Delhi needing a strong finish to stay in the contest. Moments after the denial was requested, Stubbs’ innings came to an abrupt end. Trying to clear the infield, he mistimed a shot from Jamie Overton, only to be caught at mid-off by Noor Ahmed. Clearly frustrated, Stubbs walked back to the pavilion and threw away his bat and glove in frustration, ending his at-bat in dramatic fashion.

Rana was punished for violating the code of conduct.

Following the incident, Rana was fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This offense is covered by Article 2.3, which deals with the use of audible obscenity during a match. The violation occurred in the 19th over during an argument with the fourth umpire.Rana pleaded guilty and accepted the penalty imposed by the match referee, ending the incident.

Rituraj Gaikwad Penalty for slow over rate

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Rutoraj Gaekwad has been fined Rs 12 lakh after his team’s match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on 11 April 2026. The penalty was imposed because CSK maintained a slow over rate during their IPL 2026 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. This is the team’s first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct which deals with minimum over rate requirements.
