Veteran actor John Nolan has died at the age of 87. The actor was also the uncle of directors Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. Nolan had a prolific career working on stage, television and the big screen. His most famous roles came from his nephews’ projects, with the veteran best known for his turns in the ‘Batman’ trilogy and the TV series ‘Person of Interest’.‘ According to a report in the local British outlet Stratford-Upon-Avon Herald, the actor died on Saturday, April 11. In addition to his nieces and nephews, he is survived by his wife, actress Kim Hartman, whom he married in 1975; their children, Miranda and Tom; and her grandchildren, Dylan and Kara.

The early life and career of John Nolan
John Francis Nolan, younger brother of Christopher and Jonathan’s late father, Brendan Nolan, was born on 22 May 1938. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he toured Ireland in a traveling company of “Fit Up”, studied acting at the London Drama Center and played Romeo opposite Francesca Annis as Juliet at London’s Richmond Theatre. He joined the Royal Court Company before his time at the RSC, where he took on the role of Clitus in ‘Julius Caesar’ and Trevor Nunn’s ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’, ‘Indians’ and ‘The Relapse’. He later became a member of the innovative Nunn’s National Theater company.
