Eric Dane, known for his roles in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”euphoria‘, he spent the last chapter of his life without rest, fighting. Fighting for research funding, access to treatment and fighting for people who didn’t have the same resources he had. A few months after his death in February, a short documentary is taking the world by storm. The film, ‘Ring Every Bell’, chronicles Dane’s advocacy efforts through his work with the non-profit I AM ALS to fight amyotrophic sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. According to USA Today, the title of the documentary is based on a phrase Dan used repeatedly during his journey with the rare degenerative disorder.
What ‘Ring Every Bell’ is about
The film chronicles Dane’s push to reauthorize ACT for ALS, a 2021 law that provides funding for scientific research and expands access to ALS treatments for people otherwise ineligible for clinical trials. In a clip shared from the documentary, Dan said, “We have a bill that needs to be put on the floor for reauthorization, and then it needs to be fully funded. If it doesn’t, people who depend on investigational therapies no longer have access to them.”He continued, “I’m very fortunate to have access to all medical care and research therapies, which is why it’s so important to me to push this bill forward because it gives access to people who wouldn’t normally have access.”The screening of the film will take place in Washington DC on May 6, by invitation.
