Ram Gopal Varma celebrated his birthday recently and a huge party was organized in Mumbai. The birthday celebration of the filmmakers was attended by celebrities, among others Suniel ShettyRiteish and Genelia Deshmukh, Manoj Bajpayee among others. RGV has now shared a picture from his birthday where he was cutting the cake and had the cutest caption. The ‘Rangeela’ director wrote, “Stabbing MY PAST with a KNIFE called DURANDHAR2.”Kangana Ranaut he reacted to his post and said, “Sir your work and movies have helped a lot in our cinema and people’s lives, they enjoyed their time in theaters with their friends and family, we didn’t have a cinema in our small town but we also watched your movies on DVD players in those days and we dreamed of Mumbai in those days and your cinema brought out many aspects in the enriching scenes of our lives. through your stories, even today you are never I shudder to appreciate the work of others, which is very kind of you, thank you 🙏” Varma’s birthday cake featured his iconic films. Varma has not shied away from heaping praise on ‘Dhurandhar’ and even called Aditya Dhar his new ‘guru’. The filmmaker stated, “The one line I advise all film students, ‘Leave your institutes and spend your money and time in theaters #Dhurandhar2.’ For all film students, here’s how I learned that Aditya Dhar didn’t direct cinema, but armed cinema itself. Dhar fused raw, visceral intensity with surgical precision, creating a film that feels like a living electrical wire buzzing with tension and then bursting with cinematic brilliance. His techniques redefine the genre, mixing Scorsese’s stark realism with Tarantino’s stylization, all while drooling over pauses and emotional landscapes, maintaining an iron grip.” He adds, “The heavy use of medium close-ups and tight frames captures not only masculinity, but also micro-expressions, with fiery intensity (especially in Ranveer’s eyes). Low angles, shallow depth of field and occasional high frame rate/shutter speed shots heighten the tension without detracting from the drama.” He appreciated Varma’s performances Ranveer Singh and R Madhavan in the film and concluded, “Dhar’s world building is like a master chef, blending geo politics, gang dynamics, espionage into this once-in-a-lifetime revenge drama in a palpable, pulsating atmosphere created by Saini Johray. The era before March 19, 2026 will be stale and diseased.” This is not the direction.
