The Bollywood superstar had fans eagerly awaiting Rajinikanth’s appearance on the sets this month as he was slated to shoot a cameo in his upcoming film ‘Jailer 2’. However, according to recent reports, Khan has reportedly opted out of the project, choosing to concentrate on his next action film.

According to a report on Pinkvilla, the makers of ‘Jailer 2’ approached Khan for a cameo appearance, which would take approximately 5 days to shoot. Initially, the actor was “open to the idea”, and even requested that the release of “Jailer 2” could be aligned after “King”, as “he wanted his look to be exclusive to that film.” He has a certain look in King, and he doesn’t want to be the same in other films before,” the report said.However, Khan refused to maintain exclusivity about his on-screen presence, “especially as it marks the big screen debut of his daughter Suhana”.Khan reportedly spoke to Rajinikanth personally and expressed his desire to collaborate on a future project.

‘Jailer 2’ is nearing completion

The makers of ‘Jailer 2’ had planned an August release and were looking to shoot Khan’s part in April. The makers are now looking at other options to fill the cameo role. Recently, the makers announced that the film is nearing completion and the project has entered the final post-production stage.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’, on the other hand, features an ensemble cast Deepika PadukoneAbhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi. The film is slated to release on December 24, 2026, where it will clash with some heavyweights at the box office. With the release of the film coming just days after ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’, it will face tough competition at the box office. The film will also clash with ‘Jumanji 3’, which will also be released on Christmas.
