The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has set dates for its final two screenings: the 99th and 100th Academy Awards on ABC.In an official social media post, the Academy sent out a ‘Save the date’ invitation: “Mark your calendars! The 99th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027. The nominees will be announced on Thursday, January 21, 2027.”According to reports, these will be the last ceremonies to air online before the show moves to YouTube in 2029. There will also be two shows at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

100th Academy Awards
The 100th big Oscar event will take place on Sunday, March 5, 2028, read the official message. However, the organizers added that all dates for the 99th and 100th Oscars are subject to change.According to the report, ABC and the Academy Awards will continue to air the show at 7pm Eastern/4am Pacific.
The Oscars have left Hollywood
The 2029 edition will be held at The Peacock Theatre, within the sprawling LA LIVE complex, adjacent to the Crypto.com Arena, home of the Los Angeles Lakers.“For the 101st Academy Awards and beyond, the Academy looks forward to working closely with (owners) AEG to make LA LIVE the perfect backdrop for this world-class celebration of cinema, both for live theater audiences and film fans around the world,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor.The 10-year deal with AEG comes as the ceremony leaves US network television to be broadcast worldwide by YouTube.It marks the end of a decade-long run at the ceremony held at the Dolby, which is just a stone’s throw from the Roosevelt Hotel, where the first Oscars were held in 1929.
The 98th Oscars see a drop in viewership
Last month the 98th Academy Awards saw a 9% drop in ratings after several years of gains. Conan O’Brien returned to host the show, ‘One Battle After Another’ took home best picture and director, Michael B. Jordan won best actor for ‘Sinners’ and Jessie Buckley won best actress for ‘Hamnet’.
