Despite the film’s commercial success and positive reviews, she said her personal experience was marked by self-doubt and emotional distress.“You know, whenever anyone talks to me about my first film, Dhadak, ‘he was so good in that’ or ‘we loved Dhadak’ and ‘you made a lot of money’… But my memory of Dhadak was very different. I was depressed after Dhadak. I thought that ho gaya and hogaya package (I’m done). People hate me,” he shared.Janhvi revealed how the loss of her mother, legendary actress Sridevi, affected her during that phase. Sridevi died a few months before Dhadak hit theaters, leaving Janhvi struggling with grief as she stepped into the limelight.“I got all the validation in my life from my mom. She left. So I said, OK, I’m going to take that to the audience. And I was hoping for acceptance in general, which I didn’t know didn’t exist,” she said.
Reflecting on the mindset of the time, the actor admitted that he was fixated only on the critics, ignoring the film’s success. “I was only focused on the negative. I didn’t focus or even acknowledge that it was a whole… I think Saiyaara was the most commercially successful film with newcomers till now. It didn’t even click with me that it was a hit.
