Director: ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Aditya DharIt crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark on its third Sunday, becoming the first Bollywood film to reach the milestone and the third Indian film after ‘Pushpa 2’ and ‘Baahubali 2’. Despite its huge success, a section of the audience has criticized the film, labeling it as propaganda. However, this criticism did not hamper the film’s appeal at the box office. Now actor and politician Ravi Kishan has strongly defended the film, calling the criticism unfair. He appealed to the audience to support the film, saying it has “revived the industry and brought out brilliant cinematic events”. Hindustan Times mentioned, “Calling it a propaganda film is very wrong! South actors openly supported it, everyone should do that. A new trend has started to call films propaganda, ek naya kabootar pakad liye hain log!” Ravi also drew a comparison between the franchise and the iconic ‘Sholay’. Talking about its influence, he said that the film is rooted in true events presented in a cinematic way. “The writer takes the issues from real news and incidents and presents the groups on screen from cinema. One should be happy that people have started going to the theatre. Bahut haalat kharab thi industria ki, Bhojpuri industry has almost shut down! This has come as a blessing to the industry, and many people earn their livelihood through cinema.”Even more, he emphasized that it is important for cinema to reflect reality and also to relive history. “It is important that films present on the screen what happens and is happening in society. In fact, we must correct our history through research, those pages that have been removed from our history! This truth must be put in front of people.”Talking about his career aspirations, Ravi added, “I know somewhere someone has to write a Dhurandhar for me. What is destined will come to me; this was not in my mind. Also, I am not into my favorite Gangs of Wasseypur, so I don’t have that FOMO! But I would definitely love to work with Aditya (Dhar) or Mr.Sanjay Leela Bhansali) Bhansali, I started working as now Karan Johar In Naagzilla So there are no regrets,” he says, if he had been part of the film, he would have gladly taken any role, even Ranveer SinghHazma character would be his main choice. The actor also credited the film’s success to his technical and creative prowess. He said it worked because of the “amazing BGM (background music), great editing, incredible energy of the actors and the director shot great shots and spent a whopping RS 260 million.”
