In an old interview, while talking to Sunday Today, Matt Damon talked about what happened on the set of “Good Will Hunting”. At first he found that the main team did not include him and Affleck in the main roles. Both, however, still managed to convince everyone. He stated at the time, “Stallone, that was like our code word. We’d go into these meetings and these people would say, ‘You guys can’t play roles. I mean, come on.’ They wanted Brad. [Pitt] and Leo [Leonardo DiCaprio]. We used to say “Sylvester Stallone”. Yes, we can play the papers, we are playing the papers.’This isn’t the only time Damon has talked about the ‘Rocky’ legend being the inspiration behind his role in ‘Good Will Hunting’. In 2016, when he attended the National Board of Review dinner in New York, he admitted that watching Stallone in ‘Rocky’ was a big inspiration. “Believe me, they really wanted to take it away from us, ‘God, Leonardo DiCaprio would have been so good in this,'” Damon said, according to a Variety report. Besides, he ended by saying that[Stallone’s] the story changed my life. He had enormous courage, and he changed the course of our lives.”
