Speaking to AP, Ranbir said, “I was very happy to have this opportunity that coincided with me being a father. On the one hand, I’ll go to work and play Lord Rama, but I’ll go home and tell stories about Ramayana to my daughter Raha. To see a 3-year-old child so engaged and asking me, ‘Did you do Lord Hantauman today?’He added: “There is so much interest in this story that it says this is in our DNA. Culture is so embedded in our subconscious that it comes naturally: love and interest come very naturally to us. We really want this to appeal to a larger audience and a global audience, and to share something that we’ve believed in for centuries and will continue to believe in for centuries.”
Ranbir Kapoor initially turned down the role
Ranbir also revealed at the event in LA that he turned down the film for the first time as he felt unprepared for the role of Lord Rama. But the birth of her daughter changed her perspective. The actor recently confirmed that he is donning a double role in the project. Apart from Lord Rama, he will also portray Lord Parshuram in the film.
‘Ramayana’ cast and release details
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part film is produced by Namit Malhotra on a budget of Rs 4 billion. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Yash like Ravana, Sai Pallavi like Sita Sunny Deol As Lord Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey like Lakshmana. It is the most expensive Indian film ever produced. ‘Ramayana Part One’ will be released in October 2026, and the second part will be released in 2027.
