When the first look Ramayana Hanuman Jayanti fell, immediately grabbed attention, and Ranbir KapoorLord Ram’s appearance is becoming one of the talking points. But the actress has now admitted that her first instinct was to turn down the role, and she recalls: “I said no out of fear... I’m not fit enough”.
“My gut reaction was no”
In a recent interview with Collider, Ranbir revealed that when producer Namit Malhotra first approached him, there wasn’t even a script narration, just a direct question.“When Namit offered me this part, he didn’t tell me the script. “Listen, I’m doing this film. How do you feel about playing Lord Ram?” And because of the fear, my gut reaction was, ‘No, I can’t do it. I’m not good enough for that,'” he said.
‘I still have to break myself’
Ranbir shared that his perspective changed after he understood the vision behind the film and heard director Nitesh Tiwari’s narration.“Over time, Namit took me through his vision… Then when I met Nitesh sir and told me the story, I couldn’t thank my stars that I was at the right place at the right time,” she said.“I still have to pinch myself to understand that I’m playing Lord Ram, and it’s probably something that will be a big turning point in my life and career.”
“A year before filming, I felt nervous”
Talking about the emotional journey, the actress admitted that fear and nervousness were with her for a long time before she started filming.“If I can go back a year before filming, when I felt nervous, when there was a lot of fear,” he shared.However, that fear eventually turned into gratitude. “By the time the month of shooting was over, I felt grateful for getting this opportunity. It was Lord Ram’s blessing to cast this; no one can replace him, but to truly surrender to the character.”
“I was chasing the director to learn more”
Ranbir also revealed how deep he dived into preparing closer to the shoot.“A month earlier, I was chasing director Nitesh Tiwari to try to capture as much as I could about the story, about Ram’s journey. Because it’s limitless, right?
