Rajpal Yadav meets Farah Khan
Hugging her heartily, Farah called Rajpal “Look at the biggest star” and asked Dilip to touch his feet. Filled with joy, she asked him, “Rajpal, how have you been? I will meet you after years.” As they spoke, Rajpal shared that he was going to arrange a special deal for him, but he replied, “I already feel happy to see you move freely,” referring gently to his time in prison. Intrigued, Farah pressed further, “Is everything alright now? Now that you’re out of that jail. How were you treated there? Were you just like any other guy or were you getting some special treatment because of your stardom? Did you have your fans there?”
Rajpal Yadav on prison discipline
Rajpal replied, “I won’t say that there were fans or not, but the disciplines and legalities that arise for that space were well met.” Shocked by her perspective, Khan said, “You’re taking it so philosophically. You don’t show any bitterness. You’re like I had to go, I went, I did what I had to and I’m out of that place. It’s like this is all karma, and you can’t escape. Did you feel frustrated or angry about all this?” Rajpal, who comes from a humble background, said: “No, I have learned to live in all kinds of conditions.” Farah Khan agreed and said, “There he is. He’s always laughing and smiling. And always giving every actor a run for their money.”
Rajpal Yadav praises Indian cinema
Yadav then revealed what fueled his resilience during the tough times, “Imagine Farah, if there are 800 million people in the world, Indian cinema rules at least 600 million hearts. And because of this medium, even those who don’t know me by name know me by face and are aware that I am a Bollywood actor. Cinema has given me a lot. Therefore, if I have any kind of problem today, I will stay within the film community and cooperate in all kinds of procedures until the truth comes out.“
Rajpal Yadav shares his prison routine
Probing further, Farah asked, “Tell me one thing Rajpal, when you were inside the jail, were I given any kitchen duty or other work?” Rajpal replied, “Nothing. Fortunately, things did not come to that. But, they kept me with proper discipline, following the rules and imprisoned.” He continued, “So when you came out, did you notice how many people were there to support you?” He confirmed: “The whole world was with me.Farah nodded at the actress Sonu Sood as one of the first supporters.Rajpal said, “Sonu Sood, Tej Pratap Yadav, Indrajeet Rao, Amit Sharmaand there are fifty others who have contributed equally but have never published or advertised on social networks. They helped physically, emotionally, financially, but they never went outside. So I also thank the people who have come out for themselves on social media. But to them, without ever coming out to help on social networks, I thank them all.”
Rajpal Yadav gets support from Sonu Sood
Sonu Sood joined X’s campaign when Rajpal went to Tihar Jail, citing “no money”, posting: “Rajpal Yadav is a gifted actor who has given years of unforgettable work to our industry. Sometimes life gets unfair, not because of talent, but because times can be brutal. It will be part of my film, and I think this is the time for all of us… producers, directors, colleagues to be together. A small number of signatures, which can be adjusted against future work, is not charity, it is dignity. When one of our own goes through a tough phase, the industry needs to remind them that they are not alone. This is how we show that we are more than an industry.”
Rajpal Yadav on his work ethic
However, Rajpal made it clear to SCREEN: “Please get over the misconception that I have to keep asking for work. And there is no shame in asking for work. I live my work, cinema is my passion, and I work in this way, where I get four times more work. I also work on holidays. Work does not find me, it has lived with me for the last few years.” It caught many by surprise, including Sonu Sood, but he thoughtfully replied to HT City, “Happy for him. I didn’t say it needs work. I said, ‘Sign and pay the advance because it’s worth it.'”
