Brian Cox joins “Dexter: Resurrection” Season 2 as New York Ripper, a terrifying serial killer

Popular actor Brian Cox will take on the role of the menacing ‘New York Ripper’ Dom Framt in the second season of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’. This notorious killer, once a mere whisper in the shadows, now unleashes new horrors on the survivors.

Brian Cox will join the second season of ‘Dexter Resurrection’ as Dom Framt, aka The New York Ripper. The character was originally introduced in Season 1, although he was not seen on screen. This won’t be Cox’s first time playing a serial killer. He previously played the iconic character Hannibal Lecter in the 1986 film ‘Manhunter’.

What is Brian Cox’s character, The New York Ripper, about?

According to a Paramount+ press release, the New York Ripper is described as “a serial killer who terrorized the city years ago. Although he is no longer active as a killer, he has found a new way to live out his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago killing spree.”In the season 1 finale, Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall, discovered the identity of The New York Ripper in a folder that read “Don Frampt, New York Ripper”.

A look back at Brian Cox’s illustrious career

Cox is an Emmy, Olivier and Golden Globe Award-winning actor, most recently known for his role as Logan Roy in “Succession.” This role earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Limited Series in 2020. The Scottish actor also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his appearance in Hermann Goering’s “Nuremberg.”

Plot details for the second season of the Dexter spinoff have yet to be revealed. ‘Dexter: Resurrection’, which premiered on Paramount+ in September 2025, follows the limited series ‘Dexter: New Blood’ in 2021. Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, confirmed that the show had been renewed for a second season in October. Season 1 featured stars like Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa and Emilia Suárez.
