Telangana High Court Stays RRB Group D CBT Results 2026, PET Schedule May Be Delayed Till April Hearing

RRB Group D Results: The Telangana High Court has issued an interim stay on the declaration of CBT results for RRB Group D recruitment under CEN 08/2024, affecting the 2026 cycle. This order was passed in Writ Petition no. 789/2026, named the Directorate General of Training and the Ministry of Railways as respondents. As per the proceedings dated March 26, 2026, the court has stayed the Railway Recruitment Board from issuing the results till the next hearing on April 15, 2026. The development has created uncertainty among candidates awaiting the results of the exams to be held between November 2025 and February 2026.Recruitment drive details and current statusRRB Group D recruitment is one of the largest exercises, with 32,438 Level-I posts including Track Maintainer, Helper and Assistant Pointsman. The CBT was conducted from 27 November 2025 to 10 February 2026 and the answer keys were released on 17 February 2026.The results were expected in April 2026 in PDF format, the scorecards were accessible through candidate login. The selection process includes CBT, PET, document verification and medical examination. However, the PET phase cannot proceed until the stay is lifted.Reason for judicial intervention? The stay follows objections raised by Apprentice (CCA) candidates regarding the changes introduced by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s Order 2022. Earlier, CCA candidates were exempted from PET and combined theory and practical marks.Under the revised rules, the emphasis has shifted to practical marks, while NCVT/ITI certificate holders are exempted from apprenticeship examinations. The petitioners argue that there is a lack of transparency in the practical assessment and want the restoration of the earlier policy framework. The court has directed authorities to clarify the role of the Directorate General of Training in formulating recruitment policies, which has become a bone of contention.Link to Apprentice Marking and Previous DisputesThe recruitment process incorporates a merit formula combining CBT scores and apprentice performance in a 2:1 ratio. Apprentices are also entitled to 20% horizontal reservation. The petition challenges whether the DGT has authority over such policy decisions. The issue follows earlier delays linked to the 10th vs ITI eligibility dispute, which had already delayed the recruitment timeline by nearly a year.Expected timeline and candidate advisoryIf the April 15 hearing leads to a resolution, the results could be released between April 20 and April 25.Candidates are advised to continue preparation for PET requirements, including running and weight lifting, and monitor official RRB websites for confirmed updates.
