The Korea Times shared a report that mentioned that the creators of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ are excited about the sequel and how it will be bigger than the first one. A press conference was recently held in Seoul where Kang, the film’s director, talked about the sequel.He revealed: “We’re currently holding onto some big ideas for the sequel. While we can’t reveal the exact details yet, we’re planning to make a film that’s even bigger and more eventful than the first one. Like the first one, we’re making a movie that we want to see in person.”Appelhans was also involved, one of the main goals of the second film is to do what they did before, but unexpectedly. He added that they want to do it “in the sense of surprising the fans, doing things that are unexpected, that break the rules and cross the boundaries”.
Chris Appelhans wants to keep it real this time too
Appelhans, who co-directed the film, further discussed the importance of staying true to what they created. Labeling it as ‘Koreanness’, the director stated, “Underneath all that authenticity is ‘Koreanness’. It’s the soul of the film on every level, from the girls’ characters to the music and mythology.”Music was also a big part of the film. While discussing what they have in store for the second film, Kang shared some thoughts. He stated that he has thought of incorporating trot and heavy metal music in the next sequel. He stated that he wants to mix the two genres of music and present something new to the world. In addition, he emphasized that trota is a “unique” style of Korean music that deserves greater recognition worldwide.
