When you’ve been around for so long, there’s a lot – your debut, the 2021 World Cup, was great too,” Zampa said.“But to win a World Cup, especially one we didn’t expect to win, is outstanding. And to beat India in front of 120,000 people – when the crowd suddenly goes silent – is a very special feeling. We gave it a real shock,” he said.India’s first ODI World Cup victory came under Kapil Dev in 1983, when they beat the West Indies at Lord’s. MS Dhoni’s team then repeated the feat in 2011, defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Since then, India have not managed to win another ODI World Cup.The 2023 edition offered a big chance to add a third title, especially on home soil, but the final heartbreak denied them the feat.
