The ‘Miami Vice’ reboot is making headlines again, and the latest rumor has Tom Cruise in the mix as the film’s villain. Everyone is talking about casting for the reboot, but nothing has been officially announced yet. All these reports are circling Cruise as the antagonistic character. However, director Kosinski, producer Michael Mann, has set audiences on fire, even though the facts are still up in the air.
‘Miami Vice’ Rumor: What Does Tom Cruise Have To Do With It?
According to ComingSoon.net, some industry insiders have already talked about Tom Cruise being “eyeballed” for the role of the villain in Joseph Kosinski’s new film Miami Vice. Rumors gained momentum when The Ringer’s podcast, ‘The Big Picture’, came out. Daniel Richtman, a well-known insider, kicked things off by saying that Cruise was in talks for the part. But the hosts of ‘The Big Picture’ weren’t buying it. Sean Fennessey said his own source had already “debunked” the rumor, and then he and Bill Simmons moved on, without giving it much weight.
Still, the idea of Cruise playing a villain, especially after working with Kosinski on “Top Gun: Maverick,” doesn’t seem too unrealistic. Cruise and Kosinski have already collaborated. Cruise has played the guy in the gray shade before. In ‘Collateral’, the audience loved seeing things change. However, since nothing has been made official yet, it’s unclear if a ‘Miami Vice’ reboot was ever approached.
