IIT Delhi inaugurated an exhibition hall named after former student Bani Bansal.
Bani Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart, was honored with the exhibition hall of IIT Delhi.

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on Monday inaugurated an exhibition hall named after its alumni. Flipkart Co-founder Bani Bansalmarking a new addition to the institute’s campus infrastructure.Located on the ground floor of the institution’s main administrative building, the facility has been converted from a space previously used for examinations to a space for student activities and institutional exhibitions. The name of the hall was announced in December 2025, in recognition of Bansal’s contributions and continued engagement with the institution.Bansal attended the inauguration ceremony. IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee, along with faculty members, staff, students, and guests, including Bansal’s family and colleagues.Addressing the audience, Bansal reflected on his time at IIT Delhi and hoped that the place would inspire students to develop and showcase new ideas. Banerjee noted that the hall’s name recognizes Bansal’s association with the institute and his support for its initiatives.Earlier in the day, Bansal also participated in an interactive session with the students, where he spoke about his entrepreneurial journey, including the early years of building Flipkart, and shared perspectives on the technology sector in India. The session included a question and answer segment with the students.The newly inaugurated exhibition hall is expected to serve as a multi-purpose space for academic and community related activities on campus.
