In conversation with Be A Man, Yaar! podcast, Varun Dhawan shared that he always wanted to be an actor. The actor revealed that his mother told him when he was young that his father, David Dhawan, would not fire him just because he was her son.
Varun recalled, “My mother told me that your father will never launch you because he has never launched anyone and will only work with you when he feels you have become a star.”In the same interview, Varun revealed that he entered several acting classes before making his debut. He said, “In fact, my plan was to make my Hollywood debut to show my father. I wanted Steven Spielberg or Anurag Kashyap to launch me. Papa ko jhatka sirf in dono cheez se lag sakta hai (They would surprise my father with these two things only).”He added, “But he was also surprised when Karan (Johar) launched me.”
