Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues to win accolades from the film industry, and the latest to join the chorus is the filmmaker Karan Johar. The director-producer said the success took him back to the era of Hindi cinema in the 70s, which was often experienced in single-screen theatres.
“It reminded me of strong 70s Hindi cinema”
Taking to Instagram, Karan Johar shared a lengthy note to reflect on the film’s impact and his personal connection to cinema.“Debates about testosterone, hyper alpha energy and grass roots patriotism will continue as they should…but Dhurandhar 2 is much more than that,” he wrote. He added, “The touching back story of Jaskirat… the harrowing sacrifices made for our motherland… the humanization of the antagonist and the layered backgrounds too… the impeccable craftsmanship… the soundscapes and complete cinematography prove the brilliance and command of the director. Aditya Dhar“.
Aditya Dhar calls him “a filmmaker who sets new benchmarks”.
Praising the filmmaker, Johar continued, “What an absolutely amazing and remarkable filmmaker…he not only uplifts the mainstream but also creates a new one…yeh naya director hai!!! Taquilla records todke ghusega bhi aur har record maarega bhi!!”
‘Ranveer Singh gives his career best’
Karan Johar was also effusive in his praises for the film’s lead star Ranveer Singh.“Aur aur aur @ranveersingh tu kya hua yaar?! BEST work of your career: every tear, every silent look, every time you crack an undeniable joke proves you are one of the greats!!!” he wrote“You are and will always be an artist of high caliber for the ages…a true Dhurandhar movie star!!!”
“Grateful to be a part of this industry”
Ending on an emotional and nostalgic note, Johar said, “I went back to the days in the 70s when I used to watch pure solid Hindi cinema on a single screen… and I came out satisfied and dreamed of being a part of this business.” “I am a part of the brotherhood today and Dhurandhar has reminded me how proud and grateful I am to be here today,” he added.
