Gangsters were putting money into films, and producers Gulshan Kumar and Mukesh Duggal were gunned down. Varun Dhawan he just talked about an incident related to his father, the filmmaker David Dhawan.
Varun Dhawan’s family threat story
Chatting with Yuvaa, Varun shared how his family received threats, but things turned surprisingly funny. He explained that “people were receiving calls from the underground at that time, and we were also receiving them. We have been receiving them for quite some time, but we didn’t notice because the workers were arguing with the caller. The workers gave our full address and told the person where to meet: ‘Come and meet me in that garden, I will beat you there'”, he recalled.
“When things escalated, an actor called my dad and said that it got out of hand and that this person was saying he was coming with guns now and he knew our address and office hours. When my dad asked who said this, he took the employee’s name. So we had to stay somewhere else that day. It’s funny, but it’s not really funny,” he added.
Farah Khan cluster memory of
Farah Khan once spoke about that tense period in a chat with Ranveer Allahbadia. “I remember I was on a film set. I had just started my career when they shot Mukesh Duggal,” he said. In 1997, producer Mukesh Duggal was shot dead at his Seven Bungalows office in Andheri.
Karan Johar premiere panic
Khan added that Karan Johar faced underworld threats around the release of his debut film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. “I don’t know if Shah Rukh gets calls, but I do know that Karan Johar received threats from the underground during the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai premiere. It was very scary. Everyone was debating whether the premiere should be canceled or not. Security was heightened, but we finally made it through. Karan was very stressed; Imagine it’s your first film and instead of celebrating, you’re worrying about something like that,” he said.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is taking a break from work and is gearing up for his upcoming film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. The film was originally slated to clash with Yash’s ‘Toxic’, but the makers have pushed the release to June 12.
