Kylian Mbappe On Wednesday denied media reports which claimed Real Madrid had examined the wrong leg when the France star suffered a knee injury late last year. The soccer show “Afterfoot” on French broadcaster RMC Sport reported this week that the Spanish club initially scanned his right knee in December instead of the left. Other media outlets in Spain ran similar stories, almost all citing RMC. Mbappe played three games with the team before the injury was finally diagnosed, with Madrid releasing a medical report on December 31 confirming a sprained knee, followed by an update this month after he went to Paris for a second opinion, having been sidelined for more than three weeks. Mbappé first suffered the injury against Celta Vigo on 7 December but played three matches before the end of 2025 – against Alaves, Talavera and Sevilla – before the knee sprain was confirmed.“Information that [Madrid] It’s not fair to examine the wrong knee, maybe I bear some indirect responsibility for the situation, because when you don’t talk about what you have and what’s going on, it leaves the door open to interpretation, and everyone rushes to fill in the blanks.” Mbappe said on Wednesday that he is on international duty with France as they prepare to play in a friendly against Brazil.“Now, with Real Madrid, we have always had a connection that was very clear, whether it was during my rehabilitation in Madrid, or when I was in Paris, where I had a doctor, a physiotherapist and a physical trainer of the club, where we worked from Paris, so there is no problem, when I played in the team without being injured, we were in an important moment. I was not available and people thought that I was the only solution, But it was not so. The important thing is the team,” concluded Mbappe. France will face Brazil in Foxboro on Thursday and Colombia in Landover on Sunday. On Monday in Paris, Mbappe said his knee felt fine. He was used as a substitute in Real Madrid’s last two matches as he worked to return to form.“There was a lot of frustration, a lot of anger, and then at one point there was some anxiety.” Mbappe told French media at a promotional event late on Monday. “I got to a stage where I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I didn’t go through that period in the best way. I wasn’t the happiest player in the world. But I’m happy now because it’s really behind me. It’s all over.” Mbappe added.
