The legendary all-rounder and ex Pakistan The Prime Minister Imran Khan Stayed strong despite almost three years in prison. He said that the authorities would never break him and he would rather stay in jail than abandon the principles his sons taught him. Imran Khan is in jail along with his wife Bushra Bibi in corruption cases related to a property trust and alleged acquisition of luxury gifts. In December 2024, both were re-sentenced in another trial, extending their prison terms. Bibi has been lodged in Adiala Jail since January. Khan has been in jail since August 2023 after being removed from office by a parliamentary motion. Amid concerns about his health, he was taken earlier this week for treatment of vision loss in his right eye and later shifted back to Adiala jail. His party has expressed concern over the treatment being given without the presence of his family and personal doctors. His legal team has said that he has lost about 85 percent of the vision in his right eye.According to a report in The Times, Imran Khan’s sons Sulaiman Isa and Qasim revealed in a conversation with former England captain Mike Atherton that they spoke to their father for the first time since January during a call last weekend. The conversation lasted about 28 minutes, and their sons said their resolve was strong.
‘I’m fine’ – Imran
“We asked how he was doing physically, but he was in complete denial about it. He said, ‘I’m doing well,’ and he said his eyesight was getting a little better, so I took that as a positive. He was especially worried about his wife this time; apparently she’s just as bad. He said he knew they’d never break it and he felt that when he could be involved in anything, So he can shake hands with family members [the authorities] Fear, I think, is the focus of the masses. They just want to keep everything quiet – put them in quietly and slowly remove any force from the movement. You can see that in their little moves when people challenge Imran’s situation. They quietly try to take away small freedoms, like not allowing new books or turning off electricity in cells,” Qasim said.Imran Khan has been practicing meditation in prison, which has kept him mentally strong, “He’s reached a point mentally and spiritually that I think, in his mind, he’s looking at it as an ordeal to go through. I don’t think he’s affected the way he was ten years ago.” He is at a place where he thinks that if this is how it is, then it has to be – despite how harsh and brutal the conditions are and how damaging they are to his physical health,” Qasim added.“It would be blackouts. He would say the first two days were brutal, but after that he went into this kind of meditative state and learned how to meditate and how to go inside. Imran accused of inhumane treatment of Bushra Bibi in jail
Imran Khan has also alleged that his wife Bushra Bibi is facing “inhumane treatment” in jail and claimed that the authorities are using her for “blackmail”.“The judges of this country should be ashamed of themselves. We have gone to the judiciary time and again, but they have sold their lives for personal gain,” Imran said in the statement, as reported in The Independent.“They know they cannot break me, so they turn to my wife. How can they allow this inhumane treatment of Bushra Bibi, just to blackmail me?”
