According to The Hollywood Reporter India, the team used the new A&M Motion Capture Lab at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. Developed by Mihira Visual Labs and global partner Animatri, this facility is one of the most advanced in India. It offers 360-degree preview, real-time virtual production and digital performance capture. Speaking about the setup, the team shared, “We had to import the cameras, install them and train our local team on a tight timeline.” This shows how much effort went into building this top notch system for the movie.

‘Varanasi’ 25 minutes action sequence shot

The highlight of ‘Varanasi’ is the 25-minute action sequence created using this technology. Using sensors, the team recorded the actors’ performances in a controlled environment. This method helped them recreate complex scenes with better control and more detail. One of the team members said, “The sequence will be almost 25 minutes long, and it’s an exciting scene.” Thanks to technology, they mixed real action and digital effects, creating large-scale images. Actors like Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran They are said to be part of this sequence, making it even more exciting.

SS Rajamouli using this technology marks a big step for Indian cinema. Previously, filmmakers had to depend on foreign studios to do this work. Now, it can be done in India itself.
