Priya Sachdev Kapur, who serves as trustee and beneficiary of the RK Family Trust, has officially notified Rani Kapur to step down from her position as trustee, effective March 25, 2026. The notice, dated March 24, 2026, comes amid an ongoing dispute between the parties over the control and management of the trust.According to the communication, the RK Family Trust was created in 2017 as a private and irrevocable trust with the late Sunjay Kapur as the sole beneficiary during his lifetime, according to ANI. After his demise in June 2025, the beneficial interests are said to have passed on to his children — Master Azarias Suri Kapur, Mrs. Samaira Kapur, and Master Kiaan Kapur.The notice highlights concerns about some of Rani Kapur’s alleged actions following the death of the sole beneficiary, and also refers to the suspension notice issued earlier in January 2026. It also indicates that Rani Kapur has moved on. Delhi High Courtchallenging the legitimacy of the trust and seeking relief as to its assets.In her communication, Priya Sachdev Kapur asserted that these actions are inconsistent with the trust deed and violate the provisions of the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, stating that they go against the interests of the beneficiaries. With reference to clause 8.11 of the trust deed, Rani Kapur’s removal as trustee has been formally notified.The announcement makes it clear that from March 25, 2026, Rani Kapur will have no power to represent the trust or deal with its assets, documents or affairs. It also states that the actions carried out on behalf of the trust after that date will be considered invalid, without legal recourse being reserved.This development takes place against the background of a wider conflict between the parties. It is also understood that Rani Kapur has taken steps regarding the guardianship, including actions affecting the position of Priya Sachdev Kapur, expressing competing claims to the administration of the trust.
