BENGALURU: Putting an end to speculation surrounding Yash Dayal, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s director of cricket Mo Bobbitt on Tuesday confirmed that the left-arm pacer will not be a part of this season’s IPL. Dayal, who is dealing with legal issues, did not join the RCB squad, which began training at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium last week. He has also been noticeably absent from the franchise’s social media posts, adding to the uncertainty over his status.Bobbitt said, “Yash will not be joining the squad as he is going through personal circumstances. We have been very supportive of Yash till date and this has been reflected in the opportunities to retain or leave players. He remains under contract. We have been in regular discussions with him but it has been decided that it is not in his or the franchise’s best interest for him to join us.”

Dayal, who has been facing criminal charges since July last year, missed the entire domestic season for UP. “Yash’s situation has been tough. We planned our auction for the worst-case scenario, so we recruited accordingly. We have some excellent domestic bowlers as possible options,” added Bobbitt.RCB’s bowling concerns have been heightened by the continued absence of Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who is still recovering from injury.“As soon as CA is happy, he will come,” Bobbitt said.
