'Jumanji 3' RELEASE POSTPONED TO CHRISTMAS; 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Dune: Part Three' to meet at the box office

The Christmas box office has been slightly busier as ‘Jumanji 3’ has pushed back its December 11 release. According to the latest reports, the makers have pushed back the film’s release by two weeks, placing it in an already crowded box office, clashing with heavyweights like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’ at the box office. While the Dec. 18 clash between the Marvel superhero film and the latest chapter in the sci-fi saga, “Dunesday,” comes a week after the film arrives over the long holiday weekend, it’s set to create an intense clash like no other.

‘Dune’, ‘Avengers’ and ‘Jumanji’ to battle over Christmas weekend

The Christmas release window has historically been a success for film franchises, including ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,’ which opened on Dec. 20 and grossed more than $960 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Its sequel, ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, grossed over $800 million worldwide.

The upcoming installment will see the return of members of the main cast, including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan. They will be joined, once again, by Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Marin Hinkle, Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris and Rhys Darby, among the actors Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’, directed by the Russo brothers, will return as iconic characters Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, along with many other superheroes including ‘X-Men’, ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Thunderbolts’. The film will star Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, Channing Tatum and Rebecca Romijn.

‘Dune: Part Three’, on the other hand, will see Timothee Chalamet return as Paul Atreides, along with Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, among others. The Denis Villeneuve film stars Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and Jason Momoa will return, joining Anya Taylor-Joy and Robert Pattinson in the final chapter.
