'I'm interested': Sourav Ganguly breaks silence on coaching future

New Delhi: Sourav Ganguly has opened up about his future in cricket, saying that he is closely associated with the game and is ready to explore coaching opportunities. Having recently guided Pretoria Capitals to a runner-up finish in the SA20 league, the former India captain said he is keen to be involved in a variety of roles moving forward.

Ganguly made it clear that coaching is something he is seriously considering. “The most important thing for me is cricket, when I used to play cricket I used to bat, bowl and captain the national team, but now what I am doing is at different stages, I just want to connect with cricket. I also coached Pretoria Capitals in the South African league where we reached the final and I am also interested in that (coaching),” he said at an event in Noida on behalf of PTI.He added, “I have also been the president of BCCI and CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) and became the president of CAB again. I have achieved everything in life and I will pursue whatever opportunities I get.”On the sport itself, Ganguly favors Test cricket as the most difficult and important format, while T20 is the least challenging, even though it attracts crowds.Ganguly also weighed in on this. IPLThe K Impact Player rule states that despite the criticism, he is unlikely to go away. “The impact on players’ rule, I think it’s here to stay… it’s here to stay, some will like it and some won’t,” he said.Talking about the growth of the IPL, especially in a big way Rajasthan Royals Deal, he called the numbers “mind-blowing” and added, “IPL will only go to greater heights… These are mind-blowing numbers but there is much more to Indian cricket.”He also highlighted young talent to watch, including Aqib Nabi, as the league continues to showcase rising stars.
