In an interview with Hindustan Times, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller He talks about how the popularity of Indian films is growing worldwide. Phil stated decades ago that the release date of the film in India would be changed for a smooth arrival of a Hollywood film. Talking about the current scenario, he said, “How dare you make your film industry successful?”The filmmaker added that there would be a Bollywood film among the top 10 films in the United States. He said, “Those movies play in American theaters. Most Americans are like, ‘What’s that?’ but there is a large audience for that.”In the same interview, co-director Christopher Miller said, “And it’s growing every year. Indian films in America are starting to gain widespread cultural relevance, starting with ‘RRR’.”The director added that SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ did something that no other Indian film had ever done. He claimed to have taken Indian cinema beyond mainstream US audiences. He said, “That really extended beyond what they were looking for.”
