Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the creation of “Peaky Blinders” and the beloved character of Tommy Shelby, Knight revealed that everything was planned for the character.He stated: “I thought, in the end, he would have to go.” Knight also clarified that he always wanted to create a character who was not afraid of dying or the thought of death in any way; however, Shelby’s time was projected to be limited. “Since the creation of this character, I wanted someone who didn’t care if he lived or died. That’s his superpower,” mentioned the creator of the hit show and movie.
About ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’
The film picks up some time after the season 6 finale of ‘Peaky Blinders’, with Shelby going into a self-imposed hiding place and away from a life of crime. In a quiet rural area, he seems content with his life; tormented by having to kill his brother. However, the past always comes back to haunt him. This time, Kaulo comes knocking on her door, insisting that she must return to Birmingham because her son is leading the Peaky Blinders astray. Although he doesn’t want to return, the murder of his sister Ada brings him out of hiding, all guns blazing, as he sets out to exact revenge while setting his son straight.The film is set 6 years after the events of the finale of the hit OTT series.
