There were shots outside Rohit ShettyOn February 1, while the filmmaker and his family were safe, investigations began immediately. As per the latest update, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested the 14th accused in the case. Uttar Pradesh today, March 21. ANI quoted the Mumbai police as saying, “The 14th accused, Golu Pandit, has been arrested in UP by the Mumbai Crime Branch team with the assistance of the UP STF. They are being taken to Mumbai and will be produced in the Court tomorrow.” Earlier, the five accused were produced before a special court on Wednesday under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), where the Mumbai Police confirmed that it had invoked strict provisions of the law, pointing to an alleged organized crime syndicate behind the attack. The court then remanded all five in police custody till February 17.Reacting to the development, defense counsel Ajinkya Mirgal said, “MCOCA was added today… The court said (Police) that the first accused of the accused, Sakat, was given the recovered weapon by Praveen Lonkar, who is involved in the Baba Siddique murder case and has been in jail for a year and a half. The weapon? We find this possibility a little doubtful.The arrests follow an incident on February 1, when Mumbai Police arrested four people after four unidentified assailants fired four shots outside Shetty’s residence. The four were initially taken into police custody. On February 5, a fifth defendant was arrested and later presented to the court together with the others.After the hearing, the judge ordered police custody of them until February 11, 2026, noting the seriousness of the crime and the existence of a larger criminal conspiracy. Moreover, the court insisted that extensive investigation and joint questioning should be done while giving custody to the five accused.During the proceedings, the police informed the court that a social media post claimed responsibility for the attack. Investigators also revealed that the accused used the Signal app to communicate discreetly and are now trying to recover deleted chats related to Shubham Lonkar. The police had earlier sought maximum custody for the four accused, along with 10 days’ custody for the fifth accused, Asaram Fasle alias Babu.
