Simone recently appeared on the ‘Today’ show where she opened up about her life with the ‘Black Panther’ star. While talking about her battle with cancer, she revealed that neither of them thought that the actress would not make it.
Both were optimistic at the time, and Boseman thought he would make a good recovery after the doctors operated on the cancer. “It was going to be a difficult time, but something that would come out the other side and be fine. He would have surgery, then chemotherapy, and he would be fine. There wasn’t much talk about the possibility of not being well on the other side of it,” he shared.

The singer went into more detail about the late actor’s diagnosis, including how much of a shock it was for the couple. The ‘Get On Up’ actor has been to the doctor a couple of times for some check-ups, and at the time, neither of them suspected it could be this serious. “It seemed to happen very suddenly. It was a few weeks before I started to feel better,” he shared in the interview. Chadwick Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016; however, his diagnosis was not shared publicly until much later.In 2018, when Boseman revealed his iconic character as Black Panther, he went into remission, and the pair celebrated a major victory. However, by the end of the year, the cancer returned, and then progressed to stage 4. At the time, he chose to keep his struggles as private as possible and died on August 28, 2020, after a 4-year battle with cancer.
